About WorkOrder TS

WorkOrder TS was initially developed to replace the unreliable handwritten ticket system used by so many companies, including every computer store I have worked for.

One day, back in 2005, the first version of WorkOrder TS was created. The first version of the script was designed to use a standard checking procedure. This solved the problem of some employees not asking for vital information such as contact phone numbers or the customer's address. Since the script was not connected to a database yet, tickets could still get lost and did get lost.
After a few lost tickets WorkOder TS was connected to MySQL, a very popular and fast database management system. A year later, at the end of 2006, version 0.1.3 was released to the public. At this point WorkOrder TS had most of the basic functions it has today such as full user and ticket search capabilities, onsite appointment scheduler and multi user login support.

Today the work order tracking system is no longer computer store specific and should offer a reliable solution for most service related businesses. Advanced features such as storing files associated to tickets and tech E-Mail notification have been added since the initial release and many more will follow. If a feature your company requires is not yet included Contact us and we will see what we can do to include it in a future release.

WorkOrder TS is mostly written in PHP because it has some unique features not offered by many other programming languages. The most important feature is that it offers an operating system independent work environment, because of this WorkOrder TS only requires a multi media capable, java script enabled web browser such as
The other feature is the ability to run the server software on a wide variety of computer systems. The tested and recommended setup of WorkOrder TS requires the Apache web server, PHP4/5 and MySQL5 installed. Both can be installed on Windows, Linux, OS X and Solaris. The first two are fully tested with current editions of WorkOrder TS. You can find an installation manual with a step by step guide on how to install Apache, PHP5 and Mysql5 on a Windows computer in the support menu.
